What a BBL photofacial treats

BBL goes after color in the skin that shouldn’t be there: brown spots from the sun and red from irritated or visible blood vessels.

BBL suits adults with light to medium skin tones best. If your skin is darker, ask us about it first, since light treatments carry more risk of pigment changes on deeper tones.

  • Sun damage. Brown patches and blotchy tone from years outdoors.
  • Age spots and freckles. Flat spots on the face, hands, and chest.
  • Redness and rosacea. Flushing and the redness that comes with it.
  • Visible blood vessels. Small red lines, often around the nose and cheeks.
  • Uneven tone. Skin that looks patchy even when it feels fine.

What is a BBL photofacial?

BBL stands for BroadBand Light, a form of intense pulsed light (IPL). A handpiece sends pulses of light into the skin, and the pigment in spots and the blood in small vessels soak it up.

The spots it reaches tend to darken for a short while and then flake away, and the redness it reaches tends to fade. Most people need a series of treatments to see their full result.

Face, neck, chest, hands, and more

Our treatment menu lists BBL for the face and neck, the chest, hands, upper back, and arms or legs, full or partial. It also covers up to five individual spots, or a face and neck treatment paired with Moxi, our laser resurfacing treatment.

What to expect

Call the front desk

Call during office hours, and we’ll set up your consultation and treatment.

Your consultation

We look at your skin, talk through what bothers you, and build a treatment plan around it.

Your treatment

You put on protective eyewear, and the handpiece delivers brief pulses of light over each area.

The days after

Expect some redness, a lot like a mild sunburn. Most people go back to their usual day.

Before and after your treatment

Before. Stay out of the sun and tanning beds, and skip self-tanner, in the weeks before your visit. Pause retinoids and exfoliating products for a few days. If you take a blood thinner, ask the person who prescribed it before you stop anything. Arrive with clean skin and no makeup or lotion.

After. A cold compress helps if your skin feels warm. Keep the area clean and moisturized, wear broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher every day, and keep treated skin out of direct sun. Skip hot showers, saunas, and hard workouts for a day or two, and go easy on strong skincare for about a week.

How much does a BBL photofacial cost in Provo?

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a BBL photofacial cost?

Call 801-877-5801 or text 866-485-7664 for current prices on the areas you want treated.

Is a BBL photofacial the same as IPL?

BBL is a type of IPL, or intense pulsed light. Both use a broad range of light, rather than the single wavelength a laser uses, to treat spots and redness.

Does BBL hurt?

Most people feel mild discomfort, often described as a rubber band snapping against the skin. Each pulse is brief.

When will I see results?

Results build over the weeks after each treatment as treated spots flake away and redness fades.

Can BBL help with rosacea?

BBL targets the small blood vessels behind redness and flushing, so it can reduce the redness that comes with rosacea. We’ll talk through your skin at your consultation.
